NATIONAL SCHOOL SPORTS WEEK 2009

Our Sports week began with an opening ceremony - all the children paraded in teams behind flags from some of the Olympic nations.

Sports week was officially opened by Tom Crew from Bridport who is tipped to be taking part in the 2012 London Olympics - swimming events.

Parents, family and friends  joined us for this opening ceremony

During the week children took part in a range of sports and sporting activities - cycle ride, village walk, football, rounders, cheerleading, orienteering, wall climbing, skateboarding, ultimate frisbee, cricket, tri golf, football, tennis, volleyball, athletics field & track events and took part in our school annual sports competitions.

The closing ceremony took place at 2.00 on Friday 3rd July. Once again parents and friends  joined us. All the children took part in this closing ceremony which brought to an end our school's first participation in national sports week. Awards were presented to recognise children's contribution to Sports Week. These were  given to recognise true sporting attitudes as well as sporting achievement - determination, outstanding achievment and true sporting spirit.

Our week ended with a helicopter fly past photographing our children forming the Olympic rings on the school field.

We would like to thank everyone who has helped to make this week so successful, staff parents, sports coaches and the West Dorset Sports Partnership. The children all took part with enthusiasm, determination and we hope that whatever their individual sporting interest, they all enjoyed the opportunities we were able to provide.

We look forward to next year and another opportunity to take part in this wonderful event.
